Bomb Hills not people!

Ok, it has been almost a month since I started this blog site and yes I haven’t written anything since then but I commit to writing something at least once a week. I will try to touch base on what the up and coming mentoring session topic will be about and any other random thoughts I might have.

RANDOM THOUGHT NUMBER ONE:

Education is the Bomb! That’s right I wrote it and I will write it again. EDUCATION IS THE BOMB! I know some of you haven’t bought completely into it but doing well in high school is your gateway to the wide, wide, wide wonderful world. BUT it requires a choice and commitment on your part to be the best student you can be. Yes it is a choice! You can either choose to complete and turn in your homework on the day it is due or you can choose not to. It’s as simple as that. Do your homeworK! Don’t let the dog eat it! Then turn it in! BAM! You will be amazed at how this simple little act will change your grades for the better. Many of you over the past few months have told me during school visits that your grades are low because you haven’t done your homework or you do the homework but don’t turn it in. Like the NIKE ad states: JUST DO IT! You have the capacity to choose. Make the right choice.

Once you choose to “JUST DO IT!” you have a number of resources available to you to help you be successful. Your teachers! I guarantee if you are having difficulties in a class and you approach the teacher for help they will help you. Your guidance counselor! They are there to help you and they are approachable. The APPLE Project staff! If we didn’t believe you had the potential for Post Secondary (college) success you would not be in the program. We believe in you even if you don’t believe in yourself. These are all valuable resources available to you. Make the choice to take advantage of them.

Each year of your high school experience you get closer to the bridge leading to college. Can you see it? A beautiful campus with students your age moving about from class to class, professors imparting years of knowledge and experience to eager minds, football, basketball, baseball games, fun campus activities and visits home during Christmas, semester, and spring breaks. COLLEGE IS AWESOME! Can you see it? It is there for you.

CHOICES! Correct choices! I choose to write in my blog at least once a week. Will you choose to be the best student you can be or will you allow circumstances to keep you from reaching your full potential?

Bombing a hill on my longboard at 30 mph is awesome. I can’t wait till the weather warms up!
